1. Who is eligible to participate in the SIC 2025?

The competition is open to Primary 3 to Primary 6 students. Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members and must have a teacher facilitator to assist with submissions.

2. What are the competition categories?

Participants can enter in one of the following categories:

  • 3D Game Development (CoSpaces)
  • 2D Game Development (MakeCode Arcade)
  • Animation (Digital Animation or Stop Motion Animation)

3. What is the competition theme?

The theme for this year is Practicing Cyber Wellness. Participants will create games or animations that promote awareness around various aspects of Cyber Wellness, such as responsible online behavior, cyber identity, and cyber relationships.

4. How can students register for the competition?

Registration opens on Tuesday, 21 January 2025, and the deadline to register is Friday, 28 February 2025.
Please note that a $5 registration fee per school applies. Late registrations will not be accepted.

5. What is the submission deadline for projects?

All entries must be submitted via the official competition portal by 25th April 2025, 11:59 PM

6. Can students submit entries in multiple categories?

No, each student may only participate in one category. Teams must choose between 2D Game Development, 3D Game Development, or Animation.

7. What are the technical requirements for submissions?

  • Game Development: Participants must submit a working link to their game (PNG for MakeCode Arcade, URL for CoSpaces) along with a PDF explaining the game (100-500 words).
  • Animation: Submissions must be in MP4, AVI, or MOV format, and include a PDF write-up summarizing the animation’s message (100-500 words).

8. Are there any restrictions on the use of third-party materials?

Yes, all submissions must be original works. If using third-party materials, teams must ensure proper licensing and credit all sources of media, audio, or external materials.

9. What are the judging criteria for entries?

Entries will be evaluated based on creativity and originality, gameplay and mechanics (for games), animation quality and technique (for animations), adherence to the competition theme, and the clarity of presentation and documentation.

10. What prizes will be awarded to winners?

Awards will be given in each category for outstanding engagement, design, and creativity.
Specific prizes include Diamond, Platinum, and Silver awards for various achievements in game development and animation.

11. How will winners be announced?

Results will be announced on 30th June 2025 via an online link.

12. What should teams do in case of technical issues during submission?

Teams experiencing technical difficulties should notify the organizing team well in advance of the deadline by emailing to support@infocommchallenge.com

Late submissions due to technical issues will only be accepted with prior notification and valid justification.
